About Us
Our Goal & Mission
The Shop & Studio on MLK was created with two goals
1. Become THE place where community and commerce meet in Savannah, GA
2. To be a hub for creativity
And a bonus goal of being the launching ground for 100 small businesses.
Why the name "The Shop"?
Because we are family. Our manager is kin to the Shinhoster family, and they have served the Savannah community for 22 years with the Diaspora Marketplace. Whenever anyone in the family talks about Diaspora Marketplace, they affectionately call it "The Shop". That nickname has come to represent familiarity and ownership, characteristics we want to invite you to take hold of here at 922 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
When you step into the Shop, rent space, or make a purchase, you become a member of our family. A family by choice that has come together to collaborate, creative, and build with each other.
What Can I Do At The Shop & Studio on MLK?
Buy, Sell, Create, Collaborate, and so much more
Our first floor is a flexible retail space and our storefront that spotlights local creatives, makers, and crafters. If you looking for a unique gift, or the perfect addition to your home, you are sure to find it there.
On the second floor is both a creative studio and a co-working/workshop space. The creative studio is available for hourly, daily, weekly, or long-term rental. The co-working and workshop space is available primarily for hourly and daily use, though long-term rental is available. Both spaces will be available through a subscription and one-time rental structure. If you are interested in renting the space apply here.
